Indie Conf 2010

Yesterday I had the opportunity to be on a panel at the Indie Conf in Raleigh, NC. It was a well attended event with some excellent speakers. And no I am not saying that because I was one of the speakers. While I did do a good presentation, I really got a lot from the other speakers as well. Michael Kimisal organized the first time event for independent web professionals. In some respects, I did not fit in with the programmers at the Indie Conf. In another respect I did fit in with them because I am an independent. Here is what I liked about the event.I got to meet a lot of really neat business people. It was a good networking event.I learned from the speakers who presented.I got to share some of my knowledge of accounting and taxes with othersMy big takeaway from the conference is that attending conferences needs to be a new business goal for me in 2011. It will help me to expand my network and also to grow as a professional.

Damon founded Yudichak CPA PC in 2009.  His goal at the firm is to provide his small business and individual clients with financial solutions and sound tax strategies.  As a passionate small business owner himself, Damon knows firsthand the joys and challenges of small business ownership.  In fact, he actually purchased his first business, A-1 Cleaning, a commercial cleaning business, while studying accounting as an undergraduate student at North Carolina State University.

Before starting his accounting firm, Damon spent two years in corporate accounting and a year as a financial statement auditor for a public accounting firm.  He also served in the US Army for three years as a unit supply specialist.

Damon serves on the Membership Committee of the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce as well as the Membership Committee of the Wakefield Wake Forest Rotary Club.  He is a member of the North Carolina Association of Public Accountants and the American Institute of Public Accountants.  Damon received both his B.S. in Accounting and his MBA from NC State University.

In 2010, the Triangle Business Journal recognized Damon as being one of their 40 Under 40 leadership recipients.

In his free time, Damon enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.  He also enjoys running.  Having now completed four half-marathons, and most recently the 2011 Marine Corps Marathon in a blazing fast time of 4:36:49, he looks forward to his next marathon in 2012.
